Your Role  

Joining our caring and supportive CGU team as a Senior Property Underwriter focused on our NSW market, this role offers a development opportunity for an experienced Property Underwriter to take the next step in your career or established seniors to further your skills set. You’ll build and develop relationships within the broker segment in the NSW market whilst providing excellent client service. You’ll determine the acceptability, conditions and pricing of moderate to complex insurance risks and agree on coverage within business strategy, risk appetite, regulatory requirements, product offerings and designated authority level. You’ll showcase your outstanding communication skills liaising with account management and business development teams and provide technical support and coaching to support teams.  This is an excellent opportunity to join our Sydney team and utilise your senior underwriting skills.

 

This is a full-time permanent opportunity, based in Sydney with flexible working arrangements. 

 

Responsibilities

  • Apply underwriting strategy with respect to target markets and accounts in area of responsibility
  • Underwrite Property insurance risks adhering to underwriting guidelines and standards
  • Liaise with account management and business development teams to support account management and procurement
  • Support and mentor team, provides guidance as appropriate and takes responsibility for personal development
  • Support the management of the Property portfolio across underwriting processing and credit management, documentation issuance and general servicing and management of liability risks
  • Build and develop relationships with customers (internal and external), including partner agent and broker visits to nurture relationships and opportunities.

 

​ About You  

  • Proven current knowledge of general insurance industry, as demonstrated in involvement in trade and industry and familiarity working within the insurance legal and regulatory environment
  • Solid experience operating as a Property Underwriter
  • Demonstrated experience and knowledge of Pricing and Portfolio Management
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence at all levels essential and previous experience coaching and mentor desirable
  • An insurance qualification e.g. ANZIIF Cert IV or in the process of working towards
