Your Role
Are you passionate about making the world a safer place? Do you have a knack for tackling natural perils challenges and a background in peril insurance pricing? If so, we want you to join our team at IAG as a Natural Perils Senior Analyst.
As a Natural Perils Senior Analyst, you'll leverage your deep experience and broad knowledge to address natural perils challenges, particularly in flood, bushfire, coastal, and climate risks. You'll play a crucial role in leading initiatives, mentoring junior team members, and ensuring our risk models are top-notch. Your work will directly inform our pricing strategies, making a significant impact on our business and the communities we serve.
Your responsibilities will include the following:

Engage and educate internal and external stakeholders through analysis and interpretation of peril risk modelling.

Build, review, adjust, and deploy peril risk models across Australia and New Zealand.

Document and integrate peril risk modelling into our systems, pricing engines, and other business activities.

Build damage functions and investigate property resilience measures using IAG’s extensive claims database.

Address diverse problems related to insurance pricing, reinsurance modelling, public policy, property resilience, climate risk, and more.

Lead initiatives and mentor junior team members.
This is a full-time permanent position with hybrid working conditions, available at any of our IAG offices across Australia with a preference for those based in Gadigal Country (Darling Park 2, Sydney).
About You
We’re looking for some experienced professionals in the peril industry world. To be successful you’ll ideally have the following:

5+ years of relevant experience in natural hazards (flood or bushfire preferred), peril risk or catastrophe modelling, and/or peril insurance pricing.

Strong technical and interpersonal communication skills.

Experience in analysis, data management, or automation using SQL, R, Python, and/or GIS (geospatial) platforms

Demonstrated capability in managing stakeholder relationships.

Experience working in multidisciplinary teams or projects.
-
Experience with floodplain, bushfire, coastal, and/or climate risk management practices.
