The Role 
As a Product Development Specialist, you will support the IAG Intermediated Insurance division with product and underwriting enhancements across all products and brands. You will develop innovative solutions which drive superior outcomes for our customers and our organisation.


Key Responsibilities

Product & Underwriting Enhancements: 

  • Liaise with Portfolio, Product Managers and other stakeholders to understand current challenges and future opportunities relating to our products and systems.
  • Design and develop solutions which enhance customer experience, refine risk selection, improve sales opportunities and protect our brand reputation.
  • Draft wording for policy documents, as required.
  • Update relevant knowledge management resources, including underwriting guidelines, to ensure any changes are correctly communicated to staff and documented. 
  • Where system changes are required, coordinate and plan user acceptance testing (UAT) and implementation activities.


Other Accountabilities:

  • Coordinate review and approval of marketing material within required timeframes.
  • Support system changes, including updates to sales and underwriting processes, as required. 
  • Provide advice on questions around product intent, helping to clarify ‘grey’ areas in policy coverage.
  • Maintain the team email inbox to ensure enquiries and requests are actioned in a timely manner.
  • Manage relationship with external providers Glasses Guide and Cordell, including payment of invoices.
  • As required, research developing industry, community and societal trends to identify new opportunities, risks and solutions.

Skills & Experience

  • 5+ years of experience working with consumer and/or commercial insurance products
  • Prior experience working in either an underwriting, risk acceptance, product, legal or insurance claims environment 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Certificate IV in Financial Services or equivalent
  • Business Degree (desirable) or other relevant discipline or relevant work experience
  • Human-Centred Design methodology would provide additional value to the role
  • Policy drafting experience is highly desirable
  • Risk assurance experience would be advantageous
