Predictive Modelling - Analyst/Senior Analyst

•    Actuarial Analyst/ Senior Analyst, Predictive Modelling

The Predictive Modelling team is tasked with building Group Actuarial’s predictive modelling capability in support of its advisory teams. The team maintains the Group’s Internal Capital Model, supporting the Group’s economic capital decision-making through an understanding of dynamic financial analysis and the financial mechanisms of a general insurer.  
They are also developing a Predictive Modelling Platform in support of the Group’s reserving advisory teams. Leveraging machine learning techniques and other advanced analytics, the Platform is designed to enhance insight generation and increase efficiency of the Group’s modelling capabilities. 
This role would suit individuals who are interested in financial modelling, programming and automation, primarily using SQL (data storage and manipulation), Igloo (DFA simulation) and R (predictive modelling and data manipulation).


Skills and Experience 
•    Tertiary qualifications in an appropriate Technical discipline eg Statistics, Mathematics, Data Science, Actuarial, Finance & Engineering
•    Prior practical experience (minimum 1-2 years Analyst, 3-5 years for Senior Analyst) in the analysis of complex data, with a preference to experience in General Insurance roles
•    Practical experience with analytical software such as SQL, SAS, R, Python & Igloo
•    A strong communicator and team player.

The Predictive Modelling team is part of the broader IAG Group Actuarial team. IAG’s Group Actuarial aims to influence better strategic decisions through analysis of experience and trends to create insights into the future. Our team, led by the Chief Actuary, advises Board, Executive and Senior Business Leaders across Australia and New Zealand in understanding the uncertainty associated with the Group’s material risks and provides pragmatic advice on optimising its enterprise value.
