Enterprise Actuarial is the custodian of Group Actuarial’s financial, statutory, regulatory and reinsurance reporting to the key Group stakeholders including the IAG Board and our external reinsurers. The team provides technical support to key projects across the organisation including implementation of AASB 17, natural peril and large claim reserve modelling. 

We are recruiting for Analysts and Senior Analysts to join our young and vibrant team.  The role provides the opportunity to develop specialised knowledge in reinsurance valuations and Group wide considerations. The successful candidate will be responsible for end-to end delivery of actuarial advice to key stakeholders. This will include production of high-quality reports for the Board, delivery of high-level analysis of the Group’s claim experience and participation in other Group non-valuation specific initiatives and   
The suitable candidate should be enthusiastic, self-motivated, forward thinking and willing to step out of his/her comfort zone. We are looking for someone with strong analytical skills, high level of financial acumen and good attention to detail.  
Autonomy is given to develop solutions and advice while having access to support from Executive Managers and the Chief Actuary.  


Key Accountabilities

  • Advise and build relationships with internal stakeholders
  • Technical analysis and development
  • Governance, monitoring and reporting

Skills and Experience 
•    Tertiary qualifications in an appropriate Technical discipline eg Actuarial, Statistics, Mathematics, Data Science, Finance, Engineering
•    Prior practical experience (minimum 1-2 years Analyst, 3-5 years for Senior Analyst) in the analysis of complex data, with a preference to experience in General Insurance roles, especially traditional reserving and pricing roles
•    Strong analytical skill together with understanding of technical accounting and reinsurance contracts
•    Practical experience with analytical software such as SAS, R and Python
•    A strong communicator and team player.

IAG’s Group Actuarial aims to influence better strategic decisions through analysis of experience and trends to create insights into the future. Our team, led by the Chief Actuary, advises Board, Executive and Senior Business Leaders across Australia and New Zealand in understanding the uncertainty associated with the Group’s material risks and provides pragmatic advice on optimising its enterprise value.
