The Role 
As a Product Management Specialist, your role is to develop an operational plan for the holistic product (lifecycle) management of individual products and whole product classes end-to-end, based on the department’s overall product strategy. 

 

You will contribute to the achievement of objectives on product health as well as the monitoring of performance against financial, customer growth and retention targets, e.g. by ensuring required analyses and research and monitoring/reviewing of related data sets are performed to achieve the targeted results. 

 

Additionally, you will influence and provide direction on the definition of the strategy and vision as well as the design, development and configuration of individual products and whole product classes. You will make a big impact on the product performance of individual products and entire product classes for IAG.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop an operational plan for the holistic product management of individual products and whole product classes end-to-end, based on the department’s overall product strategy
  • Influence and provide direction on strategy and vision as well as the development of the individual and ‘whole product classes’ product lifecycle, agnostic of brand, channel, or segment
  • Help identify and lead the implementation of business improvement measures related to the management of products across the entire product lifecycle
  • Influence product related decisions of individual products and ‘whole product classes’ , including features, attributes, enhancements, extensions, underwriting rules, policy documentation and governance, agnostic of brand, channel, segment 
  • Influence product pricing strategies and guard rails to ensure profitability
  • Influence the definition of product hurdle rates
  • Identify pricing, product, service, distribution and underwriting responses to improve margin from trends and emerging risks
  • Collaborate with Customer Development to help achieve portfolio/customer growth and retention targets through ongoing monitoring/responses across value chain 
  • Coordinate Product interlocks across the value chain (e.g. Marketing, Group Tech) on a tactical level
  • Monitor product lifecycle and support launch and exits
  • Support monitoring and measurement of product marketing effectiveness in partnership with Marketing, Distribution, Digital teams


Skills & Experience

  • 5+ years of Product Management experience in a complex, large scale insurer or financial services organisation, preferably in direct consumer lines
  • Understanding of product pricing, underwriting and assurance principles, including ability to engage technical SMEs on relevant pertinent product challenges
  • Proven ability to integrate input from other operational areas into the management of products and entire product classes
  • Knowledge of quantitative insurance product (performance) metrices and advanced strategic interpretation capabilities
  • Understanding of Financial Services Regulatory landscape, including Risk, Legal & Compliance, and regulatory issues
  • A high level of technical expertise in methodologies, tools and techniques for the management and design of insurance products across the entire product lifecycle is preferred
