Consultant, Professional Risk Indemnity Claims



The Role

As a Consultant, Professional Risk Indemnity Claims your role is to effectively manage claims, which can involve a negotiated resolution or managing litigation to verdict at trial. You will ensure an optimum and efficient service to customers, maximising opportunities to ensure claims are managed to meet our customer and financial objectives within expected delivery timeframes.


The role provides autonomy within your individual portfolio of claims. You will work in conjunction with legal practitioners as well as a variety of other stakeholders – both internal and external.


Key Responsibilities

  • Managing a portfolio of Professional Risks indemnity claims across a broad range of professions, policy types and jurisdictions.
  • Provide clear instructions and guidelines on litigated claims to legal practitioners to achieve the most effective claims outcome. For non-litigated claims, negotiate with parties to ensure the Set reserves for each claim and notification which reflects the most probable financial outcome of the claim, inclusive of claims handling expenses.
  • Deliver exceptional customer service to CGU customers through efficient and customer centric service, ensuring that the full protection provided by the policy is given to the insured.
  • Support the achievement of CGU’s objective of being a leader in the intermediated insurance industry by demonstrating behaviours which enable effective teamwork and proactive, efficient Claims management and superior customer service.


Skills & Experience

  • Experience in management of professional indemnity claims either in-house or in private legal practice
  • Ability to build and maintain service quality and customer service excellence
  • Ability to effectively build and manage relationships with all key internal and external stakeholders
  • Required Education/ Qualifications   
  • Relevant legal or equivalent tertiary degree (preferred)
  • Professional risks insurance experience (required)
