Mō te Tūranga | About the Role
Are you ready to take charge from the first notification to the final resolution? As a liability claims counsel, you’ll manage end-to-end claims across a variety of policies, including professional indemnity, D&O, employment practices liability, general liability, and statutory liability.
You’ll tackle claims from diverse professions and trades, using your expertise and talent to achieve successful outcomes. Your role will also involve instructing solicitors and loss adjusters, assessing indemnity, liability, and quantum, and maintaining appropriate reserves.

This is a permanent full-time hybrid role open to our offices in Tāmaki Makaurau (Auckland) & Ōtautahi (Christchurch), New Zealand.

Ōu Pūkenga | About You
To be successful in this role, you’ll ideally meet the below criteria :
• Strong insurance litigation experience with a good understanding of insurance law and key policy response considerations for financial and casualty lines of liability business, along with a sound appreciation of negligence concepts.
• A current NZLS practising certificate is a requirement for his role as well as having a law degree.
• Excellent personal skills to maintain strong relationships with key broker partners.
• Ability to think strategically to achieve optimal outcomes for insured customers.
• Ability to work as part of a team, make timely decisions, and use sound analytical and judgment skills to manage claims efficiently.
• Advantageous but not essential; candidates with strong employment law background and limited insurance law experience will also be considered.
