Our Spirit

The spirit of IAG is how we work together, what we stand for and what makes us unique.
The spirit in which we serve our customers, partners, communities, shareholders and each other is 'closer, braver, faster'.

Closer

Closer is all about creating real connections. At the heart of this is taking the time to show we care, and being willing to say it like it is and hear others too. We know that we're at our best when we help each other succeed.

Braver

Being Brave isn't always easy; it requires us to think big and stand up for what's right. This will not always make us popular, but we're okay with that. We see a world of possibilities that inspires us to be curious and play a leading role in shaping the future.

Faster

Faster is about making things happen. We know that waiting for all the answers and striving for perfection slows us down. That's why we have a go and celebrate what we learn. We can achieve amazing things when we are decisive and trust each other to get on with the job.

Diversity, inclusion and belonging

IAG is committed to creating a workforce and culture where: We respect and value the different experiences of our people, and harness the opportunity and business benefits that diverse ideas and perspectives bring to our organisation and stakeholders.

To drive the future success of our company and reach our ambition to be the world’s most respected group of general insurance companies we need to attract and retain the best people.
Diversity is fundamental to this, because talent doesn’t confine itself to one gender or group of people. Attracting and retaining business leaders who are passionate about our customers and have a broad range of skills and experiences will encourage innovation and in turn, deliver an improved financial performance.

At IAG, we're concentrating on improving gender, age and ethnic diversity in our organisation. We believe that improvement in these areas supports our workforce sustainability and builds competitive advantage by leveraging thinking and aligning more closely with our customer base.
Diversity targets

IAG has publicly committed to a target of improving the number of women in senior management positions in Australia and New Zealand to 40% by 2020. For our Asia business, this target is 30% in the same timeframe.

In 2016, women filled 31.5% of our senior management roles across the Group, and 33.3% in our businesses in Australia and New Zealand.
