Your Role

As a Principal Engineer in our Engineering Excellence team, you’ll be at the heart of our engineering initiatives. Partnering with technology platform product managers, you’ll steer the strategic direction of our platforms, ensuring they align with our enterprise engineering strategy. You will work closely with Principal Engineers and Principal Domain Architects to drive best practices and platform adoption across our business units.
Your key responsibilities will include the following:
- Lead the development of engineering standards, software application patterns, and practices.
- Engage in technical architecture design conversations and drive proof-of-concepts and pilots.
- Identify and address misalignments with industry best practices, creating strategic roadmaps for improvement.
- Provide thought leadership, mentorship, and support to engineering teams.
- Maintain and enhance engineering rituals, standards, processes, and documentation.
- Demonstrate ownership, customer service, and integrity in all interactions.
This is a permanent full-time position with hybrid working conditions, available at any of our IAG offices across Australia with a preference for those based in Gadigal Country (Darling Park 2, Sydney).
About You
To be successful in this role you’ll ideally have the following skills and experience:
- Strong relationship-building and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
- Expert knowledge of Continuous Delivery, DevOps, and Public Cloud principles.
- Extensive experience in developing and supporting digital and enterprise applications.
- Proven ability to develop effective standards, processes, and tools.
- Experience in both Waterfall and Agile environments.
- A track record of delivering outcomes in a fast-paced setting.
- Familiarity with risk, compliance, and audit processes in highly regulated environments.
