YOUR ROLE    
   
Join our team and provide strategic advice to the Chief Actuary on key capital and financial decisions at IAG. You'll lead the annual review of the Group’s capital risk appetite, design subsidiary capitalisation policies, and guide stress testing and recovery planning. You’ll enhance IAG’s Internal Capital Adequacy Assessment Process (ICAAP), oversee risk adjustment assumptions for IFRS reporting, and monitor global regulatory trends to keep IAG ahead of the curve in capital management. You’ll also advise on reinsurance, investment strategy, mergers and acquisitions, and support Capital Platform optimization. Additionally, you’ll mentor and collaborate with IAG’s wider actuarial community on emerging projects that impact capital, profit volatility, and targets.

This is a 12 month fixed term or secondment position based in any of our major centres across New Zealand or Australia.  

ABOUT YOU    

We are looking for the right person, with a good attitude who will be a solid team fit with the following skills and experiences: -  

  • Experience Depth: at least more than 5 years of experience in Actuarial, Finance or Investment. Relevant capital experience is preferred but not required.  

  • Financial acumen: a deep understanding of financial drivers of an insurance company  

  • Critical and Innovative Thinking: ability to develop new ideas to solve problems and enhance the capital management of IAG  

  • Strong Communication: communicate complex technical issues to non-technical audiences  

  • Technical capability: Prior practical experience in the analysis of complex data, with a preference to experience in General Insurance roles  

  • Multi-disciplinary Engagement: An enthusiasm for building internal relationships as well as provide mutual support to others in the wider Group Actuarial team 

  • Tertiary qualifications in an appropriate technical discipline e.g Actuarial, Statistics, Mathematics, Data Science, Finance or Engineering
