Your Role


As a Technical Lead for Digital Sales & Service in the Retail Technology team, you will lead a technical community of practice. This includes embracing Agile methodology, ensuring quality outcomes, supporting documentation, maintaining code quality, and fostering a strong team ethos. Your role is to design, develop, support, maintain, and deliver solutions that enable our business to provide the best possible customer experience.


You will drive cultural change towards agile and modern delivery models as part of a large-scale transformation towards Continuous Delivery and Lean Governance principles. You will actively shape the path to platform autonomy, acting as a key enabler to deliver customer outcomes.

 

Key Responsibilities:


•    Supervise and coach team members, overseeing quality, performance, and work operations.
•    Provide excellent technical leadership, ensuring Agile standards are created and enforced.
•    Contribute to the development of architecture principles and oversee their execution.
•    Take ownership of work or initiatives and deliver on time and within quality expectations.
•    Identify and champion industry tools, providing technical guidance and recommendations.
•    Ensure high-calibre results with clearly articulated scope and quantified business benefits.

 

There are two permanent vacancies in the team, open to candidates based in Melbourne and Sydney.

 

This is a hybrid role with an expectation to work from office and home both.

 

About You

 

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Extensive experience in a complex technology operating environment.
  • Experience developing digital and enterprise applications.
  • Experience in a continuous delivery environment, including automation.
  • Working knowledge of Agile and Project Management Methodologies (Kanban or Scrum).
  • Proven success in improving quality and continuous improvement in a technology organization.
  • Experience in systems integration and Environment Management.
  • Ability to implement generic, reusable solutions, components, or frameworks, including documentation and training.
  • A team player willing to work in a fast-paced agile environment.
  • Knowledge across architecture disciplines and patterns, application development methodologies, tools, and modern DevOps.
  • Experience in business and IT relationship management, working in/with matrix structures, and influencing senior business and technology leaders.

 

Technical Stack Requirements:


We are looking for a candidate proficient in TypeScript and experienced with React (including Styled Components). You should have strong skills in NodeJS (particularly with NestJS) and be comfortable working with Docker and Linux Bash.
For CI/CD and automation, familiarity with GitHub Actions, Storybook, Selenium, Playwright, and Jest would be beneficial.


In terms of cloud and infrastructure, you should have experience with AWS serverless technologies such as API Gateway, Lambda, Authorizer, DynamoDB, SSM, and IAM roles. Knowledge of AWS Cosmos, AWS CDK, and Akamai (or equivalent edge CDN) is also required.


We use various SaaS tools, so expertise with New Relic, Adobe Target, Adobe AEM, LaunchDarkly, Tealeaf Analytics, and Snyk Vulnerability Scan or similar is important.
Our development practices include Agile and Kanban methodologies, GitOps, trunk-based development, continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD), and test-driven development (TDD).


Finally, you should be familiar with architectural patterns such as Micro Frontends (MFE) via Webpack Module Federation, Backend for Frontend (BFF) / Experience services, and front-end decoupling architectures.
