Your Role
In this role, you’ll help shape Firemark Ventures’ external brand while exploring the world of emerging tech and startup innovation. You’ll identify cutting-edge technologies, analyse competitive landscapes, and help build a high-quality investment pipeline—through both inbound interest and proactive outreach. You’ll collaborate with VCs, CVCs, and the wider innovation ecosystem—locally and globally—to share insights and open doors to new opportunities. Throughout the investment process, you’ll support pitch sessions, stakeholder engagement, evaluations, and recommendations on strategic and commercial fit. Post-investment, you’ll help unlock value by connecting portfolio startups with IAG’s operating divisions—driving growth for both sides.
Key Responsibilities
- 50% - Investment Deal Flow
- 30% - Investment Negotiation & Due Diligence
- 20% - Portfolio Management
This is a permanent role, and we welcome applicants from Naarm (Melbourne) or Gadigal Country (Sydney).
About You
- 2–3 years’ experience in early-stage investing, startups, or tech innovation—ideally from VC/CVC, a startup, or a top-tier advisory firm (e.g. consulting or investment banking).
- Genuine passion for technology, startups, and investing—with the ability to clearly articulate it.
- Hands-on deal execution experience, including due diligence and ideally exposure to commercial negotiations.
- Strong network within the Australian and/or global startup and venture capital ecosystem.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects and stakeholders with strong delivery and relationship-building skills.
- Entrepreneurial mindset with a creative, problem-solving approach.
- Clear and confident communicator—able to influence and present strategic thinking across all levels.
- Solid understanding of emerging technologies, global innovation trends, and the VC/CVC landscape.
- Commercial awareness of what drives value in early-stage businesses.
- Strong analytical skills—able to synthesize research into actionable insights and compelling investment theses.
- Self-starter who thrives in a collaborative environment and can work independently when needed.
