We are ROLLiN’
At ROLLiN’, we’re shaking up the way young Aussie’s think about insurance. With a little bit of tech and a commitment to doing things differently, we’ve been able to make insurance a lot simpler and more affordable. We thrive on knowing how to market a digital scale-up and actively capture the attention of a younger consumer base, to completely reimagine the insurance market. We’re a group of ambitious, forward-thinking, and collaborative people. With a data-driven approach, we work to launch new products and technologies, always keeping our customers and their journey front of mind. At ROLLiN’ you’ll be encouraged to be curious, make decisions, take calculated risks, and challenge the status quo.
Your Role
As our Engineering Technical Lead, you’ll play a pivotal role in shaping our technical direction, ensuring we build scalable, high-quality solutions while maintaining best practices. You’ll be hands-on, leading by example, mentoring and guiding a team as we innovate and evolve our digital insurance platform. Some other key responsibilities will include:
- Contribute to software development, building new features, fixing bugs and reviewing test scripts.
- Design and develop backend API’s while ensuring technical excellence.
- Verify that solutions meet business requirements, ensuring alignment with our strategic goals.
- Contribute to solution estimates and test plans, supporting smooth project delivery.
About You
To be successful in the role, you'll ideally have the following:
- Demonstrated experience in full-stack web application development specifically Next.js.

- Understanding of monitoring technologies.

- Experience with Agile/Lean project management methodologies.
- Comfort working in cross-disciplined teams (including staff, contractors, vendors, and systems integrators).
- Exposure to regulated industries (e.g., financial services, utilities, government).
We move fast because the industry is evolving rapidly, and we want someone who thrives in that kind of environment. If you love technology, have a knack for problem-solving, and are passionate in the development of others, then this is the place for you.
We support a hybrid work environment and generally go into the office on Tuesdays and Thursdays. This is a permanent opportunity and can be based in Gadigal Country (Sydney), Naarm (Melbourne), or Meanjin (Brisbane).
