Mō te Tūranga | About the Role

As a Technical & Event Response Property Assessor, you’ll be assessing technical claims and providing support to the Property Assessing team, including involvement in significant claim event response. Responsibilities include managing all aspects of referred claims, settling claims within delegations of authority, collaborating with consultants, and providing guidance to assessors. Additionally, the role entails forming the first wave of assessing response during events, managing ground operations, adhering to best practices and supporting the successful delivery of IAG NZ’s Event Response strategy. Customer service, teamwork, technical coaching, quality assurance, and project management are also key aspects of the role, aiming to improve company outcomes and service levels. 

This is a permanent full-time hybrid role (with at least 2 days in the office) and you need to be based in Tāmaki Makaurau (Auckland).

To be successful in this role, you’ll possess skills/ experience in the following areas: 

• Proficient in insurance, specializing in technical claim management and building damage assessment. 

• Experienced in managing large-scale event responses in the insurance sector. 

• Systematically identify and resolve issues, analyze data from diverse sources. 

• Make timely, informed decisions and commit to a course of action. 

• Prioritize customer needs in all claim decisions, including managing escalations. 

• Build strong relationships, mentor staff in technical claim issues. 

• Maintain a positive demeanor, work effectively under pressure and change. 

• Convey complex information clearly and effectively, verbally and in writing.
