Mō te Tūranga | About the Role

Are you an experienced underwriting professional seeking an engaging position where you can apply your expertise and contribute to a collaborative team environment? If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you!

The aim of this position is to offer specialised technical underwriting support for Schemes portfolios. This involves establishing and upholding robust end-to-end processes to ensure operational alignment, efficiency, and compliance, ultimately driving profitable business performance. Additionally, fostering strong relationships with external partners, including implementing and maintaining a broker engagement plan, is crucial.

The role entails a blend of relationship management and technical underwriting, encompassing the monitoring of adverse trends and cultivating mutually beneficial relationships with brokers, while also identifying new business opportunities.

Overall, this position serves as a Senior Technical Specialist within the Schemes Team, responsible for delivering commercially viable underwriting solutions. Effective communication of relevant information and expertise to senior management, team members, and the wider business is a key aspect of the role.

This position is being offered as a permanent full-time opportunity and is open to any IAG office locations in New Zealand, with a preference for Auckland.

Ōu Pūkenga | About You 

• Minimum 5 years' experience in intermediated Commercial Underwriting. 

• Level C commercial underwriting qualifications. 

• Strong negotiation skills and ability to articulate recommendations persuasively. 

• Excellent attention to detail and ability to manage high work volumes. 

• Demonstrated leadership abilities and positive mindset. 

• Experience working collaboratively in team environments. 

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office package and familiarity with Salesforce and Guidewire is advantageous. 

• Background in commercial motor vehicle underwriting is a plus.
