Mō te Tūranga | About the Role
Reporting into the National Manager, Property NZ Broker Distribution & Specialty, the Senior Business Development Manager is pivotal in strategically managing key broker portfolios to achieve targeted growth and profit objectives. This role involves identifying and developing significant business opportunities from brokers, analyzing broker portfolios by segmentation to create strategic business plans, and executing special projects to implement IAG NZ’s broker strategy. With delegated underwriting authority, the role ensures the delivery of total quality service.
Close collaboration with Senior Underwriters and the underwriting team is essential to provide exceptional service and support to broker partners. Key accountabilities include new business and quotation strike-rates for brokers, renewal retention rates, growth and profit of brokers, and sales pipeline management for brokers.
This is a permanent full-time hybrid role, and you’ll need to be based in Tāmaki Makaurau (Auckland).

To be successful in this role, you’ll ideally need to have the following:

Experience in sales distribution within the insurance industry

Proven relationship management at a senior level within the insurance broker market

Expertise in strategic account management

In-depth knowledge of the New Zealand general insurance market, especially in commercial insurance, product management, competitor activity, and insurance underwriting

Demonstrated skills in developing business opportunities and achieving profitable sales

Excellent communication and highly developed interpersonal skills

Strong strategic focus, success-oriented, and committed to achieving challenging objectives

High levels of initiative, sound judgment, and a commitment to technical and personal development, with a proactive and innovative approach
